For me, the success or failure of Brutalist architecture is completely dependant on the lighting. I think the I.M.Pei buildings at Christian Science Plaza in Boston still work because of the extraordinary light on that piece of land. The towers going up around the plaza put that in jeopardy.
Folks can get "Hopping" mad over the parking prices in Boston. Walking by the garage at Christian Science Plaza last night, the composition in this view reminded me of an Edward Hopper painting. So I had to capture it. Obviously.
